« Space Oddity: Design / fiction » is an exploration of some themes in science fiction found in the work of many contemporary designers to anticipation, cosmology, the supernatural, elsewhere, the alien.
The notion of strangeness comes a mode sometimes naive and poetic, sometimes technological utopia.

MEMORABILIA designing souvenir wants to be a call for the evocative power of the objects which have the ability to stimulate our memory.

The aim of the exhibition is to gather a selection of 60 objects which contain representative and recognizable traces of the history of each designer, of his/her place of birth or living, of his/her ethnic group, of his/her cultural background, in order to offer the public a mosaic of little hints of souvenirs, of ways to the memories.

While we are living in a time of multiculturalism and of migrations, of identity and of diversity, of belonging and of nomadism, of “local products” and of globalization, we are trying to create new “madeleines of Proust”, at the same time marks of the past and awakenings of conscience, able to bring an innovative look on an evolving society.

M_Boxes are Containers for kitchen storage. The collection consists of five boxes and three wooden trays, which can be stacked and nestled logically or randomly.

Inspiration: Design memory ‘The aim of our games with Lego has nearly always been to construct building during our playtime. As far as I was concerned, I tried habitation experiences of a new style, with no rules and in a perpetual game of balance and gap…’

In this exhibition it highlights the creations of companies and designers who exhibited in three events during 2012: a designers’ collective at Maison & Objet in Paris; a collective stand at the ‘Salone Internazionale del Mobile’ in Milan department Satellite for young designers (17^th – 22^nd April 2012); and the exhibition Perspectives, which was presented at the Trienniale di Milano, also during the Milan Design Week. The whole presentation is intended to reflect the diversity of the sector’s approaches, from prototypes to mass production, from industrial to social design.

Birdy projekt looks like a sculpture; but it is the image, not its function that we notice first. It emanates something poetic but also disturbing as it is balanced on 3 feets. The rack is constructed so that it appears fragile and asymmetrical. In the lower part it is equipped with a drawer used for storage; it rests on two feet and just connects to the central part of the coat hanger. On the upper part we can put things on piles of wood alluding to the image of the nest.

The SaloneSatellite was created in 1998 for the express purpose of bringing together, in the same place and time, the most promising young designers from all over the world with the most important business people and talent scouts gathered in Milan to visit or exhibit at the Saloni. 10 young Belgian designers have been selected by Salone Satellite.
